The attendee will work for the Psycho-Oncology Unit, based at the IEO, and coordinated by Gabriella Pravettoni, full professor of cognitive psychology at the University of Milan.
The IEO is one of the most advanced cancer center in Italy, which unites a core of fundamental and clinical cancer researchers, and its excellence is worldwide recognized.
The team offering the position currently consists of an active group of researchers, lecturers, clinicians and practitioners with a background in psychology, working on research and clinical projects that investigate the psychological, cognitive and emotional aspects involved in medical decision making.
You will be expected to contribute to the overall research profile of the team and work directly with Professor Pravettoni and her collaborators. This is an exciting opportunity and will enable aspiring individuals to combine clinical practice with a research role, working across the University and the IEO.
Responsibilities
• You are responsible for the successful continuation and termination of the ongoing research projects on medical decision-making
• You will write research projects in order to maintain a constant inflow of funding resources in the future
• You will develop new research fields related to cancer.
To apply for this fellowship you must:
• Have a 5-year degree in psychology (or a Master degree in psychology for non-italian applicants) and have already defended the PhD dissertation
• Have a training in applied health behavior research
• Be able to provide at least one satisfactory reference
• Italian candidates must have a very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
• Have the ability to prioritize work and manage time to complete multiple simultaneous projects
• Have a demonstrated competence in critical thinking, scientific writing, and oral presentation skills
• Have a good publication record, with excellent writing and reporting skills (full commitment to publish data)
• Have the ability to work independently and take a lead role on the assigned project, under supervision and guidance of the Principal Investigator
• Have the ability to actively participate in the successful planning, execution, publication, and presentation of research
• Be ambitious and internationally oriented
• Be capable of out-of-the-box thinking.
Preferred qualifications
• Specialization in clinical psychology
• Have experience of working in applied health research and a desire to use these skills to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and clinical colleagues.
